director, CONVENTION AND BANQUET SERVICE
Reporting to the director of sales, the director of convention and banquet services is responsible for managing the convention and banquet department. He/she is responsible for coordinating and following up on group stays, including accommodations, meeting rooms, and events, in accordance with established sales strategies. Passionate about customer service, he is a team player who puts quality first.
Responsible for all groups from contract signing to final payment and all functions involved.

Administering the convention and banquet service, including managing procedures, assigning files and planning all details of each event (schedule, performance, recruitment, etc.).
- Build and maintain relationships with clients and partners, before, during and after events, in order to exceed their expectations and ensure their loyalty.
- Conduct necessary inspection visits with clients as needed.
- In collaboration with the sales director and finance director, ensure effective and vigilant management of revenues and costs within defined parameters.
- Maximize the performance of the Resort on all pillars, including financial, customer and colleague satisfaction.
- Be responsible for the action plan and commercial strategy of the service with the collaboration of the sales director and the directors of each of the departments involved (strategic vision of the offer, updating of group menus, renewal of equipment, strategic partnerships, etc.).
- Ensure that the banquet spaces are properly maintained.
- Ensure that the Resort’s potential is maximized, while taking into account the various service points (restaurants, terraces) and the mix of different clienteles (groups and individuals).
- Responsible for and participate in internal and external activities (inspection visits, familiarization trips related to the assigned market, etc.)
- Participate or be represented at the following meetings: executive committee, department heads, catering, forecasting, budgeting, revenue management, pre-convention meetings and any other meeting that relates to the hotel’s group operations.
- Manage activities related to protocol and the conduct of VIP visits.
- Maintain a safe environment for employees and guests.
- Perform all other related duties.
Requirements for the position of Director, Convention Service
- Post-secondary degree or diploma from a recognized hotel or restaurant management program or equivalent.
- Three years’ experience as a manager in a full-service hotel or resort.
- Experience in catering and group event management.
- In-depth knowledge of the market.
- Fluently bilingual (French and English) written and spoken and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to manage staff and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in basic Office software essential, including Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of hotel management software is an asset.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, naturally results-oriented, dynamic and highly motivated.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to plan and execute large projects efficiently and with attention to detail.
- Must be able to adapt schedule to event calendar and different deadlines (evenings and weekends).
- Must be legally able to work in Canada.
